CLINICAL ENZYMES™
Enzymes, in simple terms, are chemicals that occur naturally
and facilitate chemical reactions in the body. Enzymes are key
to the maintenance of normal healthy bodily functions, such
as tissue growth and repair, regulation of hormone secretion
and even the balanced transmission of nervous impulses in
the brain. There are two main types of enzymes to be defined,
each with its own set of characteristics and functions. Digestive
enzymes are secreted by the gastrointestinal tract and
are responsible for the digestion of food. Digestive Enzymes,
which include protease, amylase, lipase, cellulase, lactase, and
pepsin, exert their effects in the digestive tract.
Systemic or “metabolic enzymes” support body chemistry and
these enzymes are the most common types of enzymes that drive
body functions and support body structures. There are several
thousand metabolic enzymes that work in harmony to run chemical
reactions throughout the body. Metabolic or systemic enzyme
support has been reported in medical literature as useful in many
diseases such as, inflammatory disease, autoimmune disorders,
cardiovascular disease, infectious disease and even cancer management
(although disease treatment claims must be avoided for
supplements). The health benefits of enzyme administration have
been challenged in some circles of opinion.
The value of enzymes in the support of body structures and
function has led to the development of a combination enzyme
supplement called Clinical Enzymes™. This synergistic
supplement contains a combination of enzymes including bromelain,
chymotrypsin, panceatin, papain, trypsin, amylase,
lipase and elastase, together with bioflavonoids, including
rutin from biologically active sources. In comparison with
other enzyme supplements that are quite popular (e.g. standard
Wobenzym®) the formula of Clinical Enzymes™ is
much more complete with its added contents of small and safe
dosages of nattokinase and serratiopeptidase. Wobenzym® is
a registered trademark of Mucos Emulsions GmbH, Germany.
Clinical Enzymes™ is a trademark of Natural Clinician LLC
(www.naturalclinician.com). Clinical Enzymes™ contain:
Pancreatin 300mg, Papain 200mg*, Bromelain 150mg*,
Trypsin 100mg*, Chymotrypsin 3.5mg*, Rutin 160mg*, Nattokinase
30mg, Serratiopeptidase 9mg, Plus: Amylase, Lipase,
Lactose, Cellulose, Protease, Mixed Bioflavanoids, plus a
proprietary blend of 150mg of additional digestive enzymes
(compare with other less potent formulations).
Emerging science has focused on findings that individuals
with autism and, perhaps, ADHD, cannot assimilate dietary
protein in a normal manner. There are current FDA registered
studies on the use of digestive enzymes, most notably protease
enzymes in the nutritional management of autism. A large
body of literature suggests that individuals afflicted by autism
have common food allergies or food intolerance. Digestive
enzymes are being used increasingly in the nutritional support
of individuals with these disorders, but no treatment claims
can be made, despite favorable reports.
The science of metabolic enzyme supplementation is
emerging and one cannot readily separate the putative effects
of digestive enzymes from metabolic or systemic enzymes.
These concepts are used in the revolutionary dietary supplement
Clinical Enzymes™.
